Lynette Cervantes, AICP, found her way to conservation work by uniting her love of the outdoors with her professional background in planning.

Having been introduced to environmental and land use planning during her undergrad studies at the University of California, Irvine, her work in the City of Irvine Planning Department set her on her course.

Lynette built her foundation by collaborating with civil engineers, architects, and planners at two outstanding consulting firms. From there, Ms. Cervantes was employed by industry leaders Lennar Corporation and Shea Homes, where she expanded housing opportunities in the San Francisco Bay Area through planning and land acquisition.

In 2012, Lynette began studying with a learned individual* who continues to bring her a deep understanding of the natural world. Lynette’s active lifestyle and the prospect of outdoor experiential learning for her middle school son led her to take up residency in Ojai, California. Logging miles on the trails of the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy (OVLC) inspired her work as a Land Protection Specialist at OVLC. Ms. Cervantes has a breadth of knowledge that is directly applicable to securing more land for conservation. In 2019, Lynette founded Cervantes Conservation Consulting to provide land use planning services that promote sustainable and forward-thinking outcomes.
